“KNILB”

(Installed film piece using original filmed footage, acrylic paint and mirror on canvas, wood, wire, ice, broken glass)

In this video and installation piece, I explore my own personal memories that I have recorded for the past two years of my life. It really hit me that my collection of memories is so fragmented on what I choose to remember and what I choose to forget. The memories that I have been recording on my phone are unchangeable and are present regardless of whether I remember them or not. By attaching the mirror to the canvas and directing the projected light to a wooden stand that I created to hold a disk of ice and broken glass, so that as the video plays the same projection is reflected onto the ice disk. All the while the ice is melting and slowly releasing the glass which falls on the gallery floor. As time passes the secondary viewing area shrinks and leaves behind a fragmented memory.
