LAST CALL, Group show at MINT gallery to benefit displaced artists

MINT Gallery was founded in 2006 as a nonprofit organization commited to supporting and fostering the local arts community through exhibitions, residencies, and studio spaces for creatives across multiple disciplines. For 17 years , it’s been a space for emerging artists to share their talents, for Atlanta residents to discover new and exciting exhibitions, and for local creatives to find a community of fellow artists and friends.

Sadly, MINT Gallery announced earlier this week that they are shuttering their gallery space and studios and ceasing operations and programming immediately and indefinitely. This leaves a hole in an already struggling Atlanta art community while displacing all artists who called the MINT studios their home and leaving the cultural workers employed by MINT without a job. This news was sudden and unexpected and has left those affected scrambling to find new accommodations and resources in order to create their work.

Artists have all but cleared out their studios and moved on to new locations, but have no answers as to if, or when, security deposits or rent paid will be returned to them.

With 24 hours left until the gallery closes for good and the doors are locked, the current studio artists of MINT are coming together for one final show as a way to offer the community a chance to say goodbye to the space while raising funds for those affected to help offset the expenses incurred by their sudden displacement.

Please join us tomorrow, Saturday, August 17th from 6-9 PM at MINT Gallery (680 Murphy Ave SW Suite #2095, Atlanta, GA 30310) for LAST CALL, the final exhibition of the gallery and the last chance to see work in a space that has meant so much to so many.

All proceeds from tomorrow’s event will be donated to the affected artists. It is being run by the artists, for the artists, and with no involvement from the previous board or directors.
