Install of a new TFII Commission in a Dallas Home
Just last week, I installed a special commission for a client in Dallas. My favorite kinds of commissions are ones where the client’s vision for the piece aligns with my own. She wanted a piece that was a unique statement piece in my style and colors, but that incorporated elements of cities that she loved, New Orleans and Savannah. She also wanted to incorporate Gold leaf and a unique shape. We settled on a 40” round circle. To design the piece, I used an architectural detail from some ironwork that she had taken a photo of on her last trip to create the pattern behind the yellow form. The client liked the thought of the ironwork being broken off in some spots to signify the age and decay of these cities. I used the Gold leaf to elevate this idea. The central shape was created from the shape of light coming between trees - a characteristic of the city of Savannah, and within that shape I took inspiration from palm trees emerging from a swamp. Overall the layers intertwine with each other and complement the space perfectly. While I was there, the client also went ahead with the purchase of two works from 2021, Snakeknots 1 +2, for her dining room. The pieces brought color and life to the room and delighted the client. I am so happy that the client loved the pieces and ended up adding three original paintings to her growing collection!
